Ambassador For Christ Jesus

What Is An Ambassador?

by Terry Somerville

So we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us.
2 Corinthians 5:20

An ambassador lives in a foreign land as a representative of his King or government. For we are not, like so many, peddlers of God's word; but as men of sincerity, as commissioned by God, in the sight of God we speak in Christ. 2 Corinthians 2:17

An ambassador only expresses the opinion of the King or government who sends him, and not his own. And we also thank God constantly for this, that when you received the word of God which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men but as what it really is, the word of God, which is at work in you believers. 1Thessalonians 2:13

An ambassador has the delegated AUTHORITY (the right to act) on behalf of the King or government that sends him. ? the authority which the Lord has given me for building up and not for tearing down. 2Corinthians 13:10

An ambassador is given POWER to carry out his work.
for our gospel came to you not only in word, but also in power and in the Holy Spirit and with full conviction. You know what kind of men we proved to be among you for your sake. 1 Thessalonians 1:5

An ambassador's needs are met by the King or government who sends him, not by the nation to which he is sent
. ... for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him. Matthew 6:8

An ambassador's standard of living is that of his home country. But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19

An ambassadors residence is considered "sovereign territory" of the king who sends him. Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, which you have from God? You are not your own; 1 Corinthians 6:19

An ambassador has diplomatic immunity from the laws of the land to which he is sent. Never the less, he respects these laws for the sake of his King, but is subject to the laws of his homeland. Who shall bring any charge against God's elect? It is God who justifies; Romans 8:33 Be subject for the Lord's sake to every human institution 1 Peter 2:13

An attack on an ambassador is considered to be an attack on the King or government who sent him. Share in suffering as a good soldier of Christ Jesus. 2 Timothy 2:3

When the King goes to war He withdraws His ambassadors!
...then we who are alive, who are left, shall be caught up togetherwith them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air; and so we shall always be with the Lord. 1 Thessalonians 4:17
